First hike of 2008

So yesterday, we finally had weather nice enough to take cronus on his first hike. It was about 50 out and we had a clear blue sky. We outfitted cronus with his own camel pack which worked great. The only problem is that he is just a little too skinny. The bag sat straight on his back at first but as soon as he started walking, it worked its way to his left side. It didn't seem to bother him so we just left it. About halfway, however, i tried to switch it to the other side of his body but he couldn't figure out how to shift his weight in that direction so it sent him off to the right, down the hill. So we switched it back and he did just fine. crazy dog. Anywho, here's to a great season, and a thanks to jake for the great bag.

Airplanes

You know, I love traveling by airplane. First you get to hunt around online to find the best deal (which in most cases takes days to months). Then you get to try and pack a butt load of closes into a very small bag so that you don't have to check your bag and then wait with the masses and watch people grab your bag because it looks like theirs.

Then you get to find a ride to the airport because parking cost about as much as the ticket itself, and arrive at least an hour early. Over the next five minutes you'll stand in line between a large man with sweaty pits and a woman with WAY too much perfume while you strip off items of clothing and are poked and prodded.

Then you get to get re-dressed and carry your bag to the very end of the terminal because if you hunted for months for the best price, you are most likely flying southwest. Once you arrive at your terminal, with 45 min to spare, you think, "well at least i can sit down and rest for a little bit." But you would be mistaken because as soon as the plane arrives, everyone stands up and pushes themselves into boarding groups one and two, even though it will take 30 minutes for the current passengers to unload and for the flight attendants (don't call them stewardess or they will duct tape you to the wing) to do a quick clean.

So you find yourself standing in a line once again between the sweaty guy and the stinky lady, waiting to board a plane for a trip your not sure you still want to take.

Finally, they wave you in, and you rush to the emergency exit row so you can enjoy the extra 5 inches of leg room. As you sit back with your set belt on and your tray table in its upright and locked position, with your luggage safely stored in the overhead compartment on under the set in front of you, you prepare yourself for your hopefully short flight.

But before you know it, here comes the very large man with the sweaty pits who squeezes his way into the seat right next to you even though it is not a full flight and there are plenty of available seats. So you quietly open your bag, pull out your laptop and turn it on. You then take a deep breath while looking at the ceiling, close your eyes and then open this site

Spring Cleaning

So this weekend, Linda and I decided to do some serious cleaning. About a week ago we found traces 'crap' from a mouse in one of our drawers. So we pulled everything out and set a trap. Next day we had ourselves a winner. Set another trap and waited two days, and got nothing. So it was time to clean.

Now, you know you have a small house when you can vac every surface in your house from one outlet. yet still it took us two days to clean it all (we have a lot of junk). Anywho, the place is cleaner than its ever been and we love it. I will try and post pictures of it after work.

Deafnote

Have you ever wished you were deaf? Even just for a little bit? You see, I am finally ready to admit that I have a problem. You see first off I cannot stand it when people sing in public. But it drives me even more nuts when the person thinks they can sing but can't. I have a co-worker who is constantly singing random songs and they are off pitch, of rhythm, off beat, off tone, and just plain awful. And its not just that s/he can't sing, but that s/he really thinks they can sing and so s/he belts it out for the whole world to hear. Guess what? You suck and no one wants to hear it! I'm sorry if it seems mean but honestly it is truly painful for me to hear this person sing. I wish they was a way I could have you share in my pain but I don't think anyone should be subjected to that kind of noise. It's not my intention to offend but please, weather you think you can sing or not, just don't do it in public. Especially if you can't sing, just don't do it. If you truly feel you have to sing in the car or at home than fine, but for the love, make sure your alone. That is all I ask.

Welcome to another wonderful tuesday. Let me just start by saying that deer have to be the dumbest animals ever. I'm sure you all know how dumb and stupid I think horses are, but deer are by far dumber, stupider, and useless. I mean we don't even get glue or paint brushes from them. You may be wondering if this rant about deer is because i hit another one this morning, but luckily I didn't. However I did almost hit 4 of them this morning. Like, within inches to a foot.

That aside, its time for another tie tuesday. Today i am featuring a lovely piece created by the fine people of Wemlon. This wemlon wembley is made out of the finest polyester money can buy. What does this mean you ask? It means you can "crush it, knot it, even wash it" and it will ALWAYS look perfect.

This little number is called rye & tomato soup because the bottom of the tie looks like it was dipped in soup.

Wemlons are also great because of their impressive thickness.

Jake is sporting a smashing brown sweater vest and a very nice power tie. Keep 'em coming Jake.

As always, everyone is invited to join us for tie tuesday so send me those pictures!

2 months

Well today marks another month since Claire came and for a nice surprise, last night we got the molds of one of Claire's hands and feet. I had almost forgot how tiny they were. If I remember, I will post a picture of them when I get home.

On a side note, today is the first day of spring break, which for me means nothing seeing how one, i still have to work at 4 am, and two, I didn't know it was spring break this week until last friday so... oh well.
