For our big summer trip this year, Linda and I went to San Francisco for a few days because we had never been there. So thursday afternoon, we loaded up the car and attempted to drive strait through. We made it just a few hours outside of San Jose were we noticed on our map, that there was a campground near the freeway. So we got off the freeway and made our way to the campground. After we drove about 20 min, getting ready to just turn around, we found the turn off for the campground. Then we saw a sign that said 10 miles! We were really exhausted though and just wanted to sleep so we kept driving. The road turned into a tinny unkept road winding up and down, with no room to turn around. Finally we came to the campground. $20 bucks for one night? Good thing no one was there. So we kept driving in to find a open spot. After another 10 minutes of driving without actually reaching a campsite, I screamed, and turned around. Luckily by this time, I was so pissed off that I was no longer tired.
We finally got back to the freeway, drove down two exits, and found a hotel that allowed dogs for just 80 bucks and got about 4 hours of sleep. That morning we thought we would fight traffic, but made it there in no time which meant that we were 2 hours early for our appointment to drop Cronus off at the doggy day care.
Once we finally dropped off the dog, we were ready to start our vacation and it was awesome. Linda's friends had a portable road gps that they let us borrow so we were able to get everywhere we wanted to go. On Sunday, we convinced our friend Staci, who had never been on a plane or been to San Fran., to buy a ticked and fly in on monday. So we picked her up monday morning and spent the next two days in the city and had a blast. We even rented bikes and rode a little over 8 miles across the golden gate. It was so much fun.
On wednesday, after we sent Staci home, we headed up the coastal hwy. It was gorgeous! The weather was perfect and there wasn't much traffic either. We stopped off at a few places and let Cronus play in the ocean for the first time and he and I did our baywatch run through the waves. We also took a few short hikes through the redwoods, which were amazing, sucks that at that time, we had filled our memory cards and drained our batteries. We still got some good shots though.
After we winded our way up to Portland, we spend the rest of the week their with family and Jacob.
Overall our vacation was awesome. We spent way too much money but it was worth every penny. Okay, enough from me here are the pictures.
